My journey with art began with the joy of my childhood. I was always scribbling in sketchbooks creating handmade cards and crafts. These early moments of play eventually led me to a passion in my ceramics in high school classes, where my passion finally found its form in clay. I was fortunate to have a mentor who saw my potential, teaching me that while art requires a creative soul, it is truly brought to life through technical practice and purpose. She showed me that art wasn't just a school subject, but a lifelong practice.

Gaining a Fine Arts degree and a deep love for teaching, I spent the last six years in K-12 art classrooms. However, I eventually found that the creative experience was often lost beneath the weight of grades and standardized metrics. I realized I didn't lose my love for teaching; I simply missed the freedom of the process. AK Clay Studios is my return to that original spark. I am moving away from the politics of the classroom to create a dedicated sanctuary—a place where students of all ages can pursue the craft for the pure sake of creating.

At AK Clay Studios, my mission is to provide an open invitation to the curious. I strive for every individual to use the freedom to explore, learn, and express themselves through the tactile beauty of clay. I believe that everyone is an artist, and I am here to provide the tools, the time, and the encouragement to prove it.

We believe that the journey into clay should be as unique as the artist. To accommodate this, our studio provides a spectrum of classes tailored to different experience levels and social interests. Guests can practice on the pottery wheel, use the sculptural freedom of hand-building, or the colorful expression of pottery painting. From intimate 'Mommy & Me' workshops that capture a moment in time to lively, community-focused 'Sip and Spin' nights, our products are designed to turn an ordinary evening into an extraordinary creative memory.
